Theater “Debut” started its history in November 3, 1999. Its main task is creative education of children and propaganda of Jewish stage art. The number of its members who study the fundamentals of dramatic theory, production and actor’s art, Jewish theatrical tradition are continuously growing. Now it counts around 170 of its members. The theater fills children with the desire to work creatively, teaches them self-discipline and responsibility.
Theater “Debut” was a prize-winner and the winner of numerous theatrical festivals, including the 4th International festival of children’s and youth creativeness in Moscow, theatrical festivals “Constellation of Lion” of 2002, 2004, 2006 in Lviv and “ Roaming stars” of 2005 – 2006 – 2007 – 2008 – 2009 – 2010 – 2011 – 2012 in Kiev, theatrical festivals of Tolerance of 2007, 2012 in St. Petersburg. The theater travels a lot all over the region giving its performances to the Hesed’s clients in Lviv, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, Uzhgorod, Poltava, Kiev, Ivano-Frankivsk, etc.
Ensemble of modern and sports dancing has started its work in September 2005. Basing on the works by modern Jewish composers it popularizes modern dancing. Sports youth rhythms, making bridges between different generations, combine traditions and contemporaneity. Repeatedly the ensemble “Amateur” participated in the festivals of national cultures in Lviv and is the prize-winner of numerous festivals in Ukraine and Russia (e.g. festival “Put out a candle” in Moscow).
That is a real film studio. It deals with true chronicles of Hesed’s life and shoots films in different genres. The eye of its video camera carefully monitors every event in Hesed, fixing the most interesting ones on its tape. Its archive constantly updates with new material of increasing artistic value. Its films are awarded and recognized at the yearly festival “Jewish Vision” where the participants learn the art of film making on the examples of the masterpieces of the past, had been created by the outstanding figures of the world cinematography like Sergey Eisenstein, Dsiga Wertow, Charlie Chaplin along with other outstanding representatives of Jewish people. Each charitable event provided by Hesed is accompanied by the short videos, produced by “Film chronicle” program.
