“Recording studio” has been functioning in Hesed since 2002. Its activity includes musical arrangement of theater’s performances (phonograms for holiday events, concerts, shows, etc.); restoration of old records; searching of new materials, regulating and updating of the Jewish music and songs archives in Hebrew and Yiddish; assistance to Hesed’s communal programs with phonograms (e.g. dancing groups “Sherele” and “Jewish miniatures”). “Recording studio” has released the following exclusive authentic CD-albums: “Our Marne Loshn” – old songs in Yiddish restored from gramophone records – in 2002; “Sing in Yiddish” – records of Lviv klezmer orchestra (soloist Sasha Somish) – in 2003; “Restoration” – songs by Zinoviy Schulman and Marina Gordon – in 2005. In 2006, the studio has released a double-album “The best performers of folklore in Yiddish – Aaron Lebedeff” which includes folk Jewish songs performed by Aaron Lebedeff in pre-revolutionary Saint-Petersburg, pre-war Paris, Vienna, Warsaw and London. The daily searches and big inspiration help to preserve and share Jewish singing and instrumental culture.
Hesed’s community club has been already functiong for several years and offers its assistance to those who are eager to master computer grammar and improve their level. In cooperation with the children’s program “Ken Eladim” and with the help of developing games the Computer center offers study of Jewish history, culture and tradition. The elder children, pupils and students make use of Jewish Internet recourses in order to get information about Jewish history, culture and traditions as well as to mail their friends from others Jewish communities all over the world. Here you can also master MS office programs. Computer class is very popular not only among children, it is successfully attended by the grown-ups who want to be in the vortex of the intellectual life and not be behind the time. The computer class serves totally 8 age groups, app. 180 people every month.
