This program helps aged people to maintain mobility or to rehabilitate it. It counts over 40 items of rehabilitation equipment which is selected individually according to medical examination of the clients, taking into consideration the pecifics of their illnesses and medical recommendations. Approimately 35-40 pieces (walking sticks, wheel-chairs, bed-side tables, bath-seats and chairs and other items) are given out every month.
Everyone can get into a trouble. No matter whether it concerns your health or leaking your roof. Then Hesed comes with its corresponding program “SOS”.
On its account there are numerous repairs of the damaged roofs and heart surgeries which had saved lots of lives, etc.
This program assists needy elderly, disabled, bedridden people, those who cannot leave their homes for health reasons and who is not able to take care of themselves. It provides care for more than 500 people. In December 2005 “Home care” program was awarded with the diploma for the best activity among all Ukrainian Heseds. This program may truly be considered as the most humane one since its devoted patronage workers do not only render necessary services (starting from personal hygiene, meals, cleaning apartments up to the payment of bills), but they also become the only close friends to our customers.
In 2012, we introduced a new program direction of intellectual patronage. Professional psychologist supports and helps people who suffer from social isolation and Alzheimer’s disease. Its purpose is very simple, but at the same time is very important – normalization the psychological climate in the family, useful advises and recommendations for the elderly in order to prevent depressions.
A man is given a birth, studies, runs through good and bad times and then suddenly remains completely lonely. Then our patronage workers, psychologists and home-care nurses come. They come to hospitals, to empty apartments sharing good and bad times. They should have big hearts capable for compassion, helpful hands always ready to support, and a huge store of patience and kindness…
Our clients are aged people. Most of them suffer from chronic diseases and simply cannot exist without medical care provided by Hesed. “Medicine program” is responsible for that. Its main aim is provision with medicines, if necessary — in-patient treatment, organization of individual consultations at home for those who cannot go out, preventive actions, prosthetics, cataract surgeries and other operations.
As a rule hospitalization takes place in a departmental hospital and stipulated by the agreement with Hesed.
Those who need medical care at home are kindly provided with medical consultations, blood-sugar-tests, blood pressure measurements. Monthly over 2200 Ukrainian citizens make use of pharmacies. Hearing-aids and eyeglasses are free of charge.
The subprogram “Phoenix” ensures rehabilitation of the aged people living in the region. Its activity combines “Medicinel program”, “Day Center” and “Club”. In the course of the treatment period the clients are provided not only with medical assistance but are welcomed to be engaged in interesting and cognitive programs with the help of librarian and “Club” workers.
The “Labriut” program ensures rehabilitation of people with the diseases of locomotor apparatus and cardiovascular system in the sanatorium “Lyuben’-Velykyy” and “Shklo”.
The subprogram “Grace” supports women after mammotomy surgeries. In 2012 this program celebrated its 10th anniversary. “Grace” program provides women not only with prosthetic devices but also with proper psychological adaptation. Regular meetings bring women to close communication and cheer them up.
